Hamilton's Brett Slayton finishes second at the county meet.

On Friday, October 21, Hamilton High School hosted the Allegan County Cross Country Meet at the US 131 Motor Sports Park in Martin.  Boys’ and girls’ teams from Allegan, Fennville, Hamilton, Otsego, Plainwell, Saugatuck and Wayland were all present.

The girl’s took first place yet again at the county meet.  Molly Oren led all runners with a time of 18:11.9.  Cathy Coryell and Emily Oren followed in second and third.

For the first time ever, Hamilton had three boys in the top fifteen at county.  Brett Slayton led the effort with a second-place time of 17:26.9.

“The weather was nearly perfect for running,” said Head Coach Jeremy Luhmann, “this caused some of the runners to have their best race of the season.”

Assistant Coach Travis Pertner reported three of the girls and five of the boys as running personal records for the season at county.

The teams will finish their regular conference seasons at Holland Christian on October 24 (rescheduled from October 19).  State competition follows with Regionals on October 29.
