Dance moves to Saturday night

Forget about dancing after the game, you’ll have to find something else to do now that the Homecoming dance has been moved to Saturday night.

The change came about when the Student Council decided to put on a longer dance.  In past years, when the dance started after the game, it would last 1-1 1/2 hours. This year the dance is 3 hours long.  It will take place  from 8-11 PM.

Mrs. Susan Alward, Student Council advisor, helped organize the dance.

“We’re breaking a school tradition,” she said. “We’re going to try [it] this year to see how it goes.”

The dress code for the dance has changed as well. No longer can students wear casual dress. This year, they must be dressed semi-formal or in a Halloween costume to go with the Senior class hallway theme.

“Younger kids want to dress up because they aren’t able to go to prom,” Mrs. Alward said.

Many students will be glad to know that one thing hasn’t changed: tomorrow night’s DJ will once again be Chris Brown, a Hamilton graduate. He was also at last year’s Homecoming dance.

“Students liked him,” Mrs. Alward said. “It’s nice to have him come back.”

For all those attending, have fun and have a good “clean” dance.
