Girls varsity basketball looks forward to strong season

With winter here, the girl’s varsity basketball team is busy preparing for its season. Despite having to replace the post position, Head Coach Dan VanHekken said he thinks the girls are looking good. One of the main goals for the girls is to win a conference championship this year.

“The team gets along very well and the girls are all self- motivated,” Coach VanHekken said.

With those two attributes, and by having strong character and working very hard, they are planning on having a really good season.

Hamilton senior Kerri Hoffman guides the offense from the point guard position. She is excited for the season after missing last year with a torn ACL in the knee.

Hamilton junior Andrea Haverdink said she and the whole team are looking forward to a great season.

The first couple of games were nerve-racking for the team, but with the come back the girls made, they beat West Ottawa and Holland.

The team is busy preparing for major games against Holland Christian and Unity Christian.
