Hamilton boys end season with heartbreaking loss

Friday night the Hamilton boys basketball team took on Unity Christian in the district finals. The Hawkeyes were looking for their first district title in just over 25 years.

With the fourth quarter coming down to the wire and a Elijah Walker three to tie the game at 37 a piece, Hamilton would have the final shot. But, the inbound pass was thrown full court and intercepted by Unity to force overtime.

It would be all defense in overtime, but again a late three for Hamilton would make it a one point game. The Hawks would be forced to foul on the other end and give up free throws. With the second free throw being a miss, Grant Wolfram would grab the rebound and Hamilton would call a time out with 11.4 seconds to play.

It would be Wolfram, a sophomore guard, who would find himself with the ball at the corner of the free throw line and had to take a tough shot. The shot was online but clanked off the front of the rim to end the game.

Hamilton would lose 44-42, ending their season with a record of 11-11.
