Hamilton boys varsity basketball defeats Allegan

Point guard Nick Kronemeyer dribbles the ball up court against Allegan.

Hamilton varsity basketball teams beat Allegan 64-51, Tuesday Dec. 4.

The Hawkeyes had a commanding lead for most of the game. Allegan made a late push in the third quarter, but the Hawkeyes held on and took home their first win.

“We survived,” senior point guard Nick Kronemeyer said. Kronemeyer was proud of his team’s performance securing the victory and contributed 13 points to the Hawkeyes win.

“We started off slow and sealed it off in the fourth quarter,” junior Connor Davis said. Davis pointed out the team’s great ability to communicate and share the ball.

The Hawkeyes will face off against the Vikings in Hopkins, Friday, Dec. 7. The seniors are looking for revenge after losing to Hopkins last year.

“We have a lot of room to improve,” Trenton Haverdink said. Haverdink contributed 13 points to the win over Allegan and hopes to have a similar performance at Hopkins.

“We are going to have to play better to beat Hopkins,” ┬áDavis said, adding confidently, “I expect we will win by 10 points.”
