Hamilton cross country boys lose, girls defeat Byron Center

On Wednesday, September 25, the Hamilton Cross Country team ran the hardest course, Unity Christian, against the hardest team, Byron Center.

The boy’s team ran first, keeping up with Byron Center the whole race.

Near the end, Hamilton dropped back about 70 yards, letting Byron Center take 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place. The Byron Center boys defeated Hamilton.

For the girls, the race was opposite. Erika Freyhof placed 1st, starting the win for Hamilton.

Rebecca Koopman, Hope Fathman, Jennica Schafer, Elizabeth Schondelmayer, and Kacie Grady were some of the Hamilton girls placing in the top 10.

Hamilton won against Byron Center, which was a huge accomplishment.

The next race for Hamilton will be Saturday, September 28, at Otsego.
