Hamilton girls suffer season ending loss

Tuesday night the Hamilton varsity girls basketball team (21-1) took on Ionia (14-8) in the regional semi-finals.

It seemed as though the Hawkeyes bad luck began as soon as the game began. With the first play of the game being an over and back call on Hamilton. Hamilton struggled to score in the first quarter as they were held to two points up until late in the quarter. The Hawks found themselves down 14-8 to end the quarter.

Hamilton found life in the second stanza, by outscoring the Bulldogs 11-4 and taking the lead 19-18 going into the half.

In the final half, Hamilton ran into more bad luck as every three pointer missed its mark and the Hawkeyes defense struggled to keep the game within reach.

Hamilton couldn’t keep up with Ionia as they fell 42-27, ending their season.

The Hawkeyes were 21-2 on the season and finished the regular season ranked fourth in the state.
