Hamilton golfers grab second place at conference meet

The girls varsity golf team finished 2nd at the OK Green tournament today.

Hamilton’s golf team grabbed 2nd place at the OK Green championship earlier today.

The Hawkeyes beat Unity Chritian by three stokes, 402-405 to win the race to runner-up behind Holland Christian, who had the top four scores of the day and came in with a 367.

Kennedy Purk led the Hawkeyes with a 94, good enough for 5th best score of the day.  Her senior teammate Taylor Johnson shot a 96 for 8th place overall.

“What a great job by Taylor Johnson with her 96, and Kennedy Purk for her best ever 94,” ¬†Coach Kevin Arnold said.

Johnson was named Honorable Mention All-Conference for her performance this year.

Holland Christian’s Claire Spoelhof and Lydia Wiersma tied for medalist at 91.

Rounding out the scoring for Hamilton were Hannah VandeWege with a 105, and Molly Phillip and Heidi Mihm who tied at 107.

Coach Arnold added that he was “soooooo proud of them!”
