Hamilton Idol celebrating 5th year

Hamilton Idol

Hamilton Idol’s 5th anniversary will take place in the high school auditorium this fall, with tryouts taking place Saturday, Oct. 6, and the finals on Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7:00 p.m.

“We have had between 50 and 70 people audition each year,” said Mrs. Holly Israels, director of Hamilton’s Music Program. “(We) probably have about 300 to 400 people attend the finals each year.”

This year they will also be videotaping the finals.

“We will be audio and video recording,” Mrs. Israels said.

The money that is raised is going to Hamilton’s Music Program.

“After expenses for the event are paid, the money will go to the Hamilton Vocal Music Boosters,” Mrs. Israels said. ”The boosters pay for a lot of things, but primarily costumes, props and sets for musical theatre productions (MP3 & Musical Theatre Chorus at the high school) as well as purchasing choir music for all vocal music students in grades 6-12. They pay for other things too, but the bulk of the money goes to musicals and purchasing new music for the choirs.”

This year will hopefully turn out as successful as the past years.
