Hawkeyes pound first round opponent Edwardsburg 42-14

Hamilton gathers after their win over Holland earlier this season.  The boys travel to Stevensville Lakeshore next week.

The varsity football team cruised to a big first round win at Edwardsburg on Friday night, 42-14.

Despite four turnovers, the Hawkeyes were able to outscore the Eddies by four touchdowns.

Senior quarterback Nick Kronemeyer once again led the Hamilton offense by scoring two rushing touchdowns – covering 50 yards and 11 yards, respectively – and throwing for another – a 15 yard strike to Trenton Haverdink.

Junior running back Heath Dannenberg rushed for two more scores in the fourth quarter from 5 and 1 yards out to put the game away.

Hamilton led 21-14 going into the fourth quarter, but scored 21 unanswered points in the final frame to secure a berth in the second round of the Division III playoffs.

Hamilton will travel next week to Stevensville Lakeshore (10-0) who defeated Holland Christian (5-5) on Friday night.
