Honors choir performs at Griffins game

The Honors choir performs 'O, Canada' prior to the Grand Rapids Griffins game against the Toronto Marlies. They followed up with 'The Star Spangled Banner'.

The Hamilton High School Honors choir performed at west Michigan’s version of Hockeytown last night when the Grand Rapids Griffins hosted the Toronto Marlies at Van Andel Arena.

Choir teacher Holly Israels said almost 250 people from Hamilton purchased tickets to see the choir perform both the U.S. and Canadian national anthems.

This was the third time the choir has performed for the Griffins.  Both past games had crowds of more than 10,000 people.

While the Honors choir were given a nice ovation by the crowd for their singing, there was not much to cheer about for the Griffins, as the Marlies defeated the Grand Rapids, 2-0.
