On today’s 12th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks on the United States, Hamilton students once again placed flags around the Hawkeye head at the entrance to the high school parking lot.

Hamilton senior Kathryn Lugten was the first to arrive before 6:30 a.m. to help make sure students, staff and parents would see the flags as they arrived.

Groups of students have placed flags there as a memorial six times in the last seven years to help the community remember that tragic day in American history.

Students participating this year were seniors Kathrn Lugten, Falina Baker, junior Andrew VanHuis, and freshman Kaylonee Baker.
