Hamilton varsity golf takes 2nd at Hamilton invite

Nick Carlson hits a shot out of the rough earlier this year.

It was an early morning for the Hamilton varsity golf team. While students were sleeping in, the boys golf team had to be at Diamond Springs by 6:30 a.m.

The Hawkeyes had an incredible 10 under par performance from defending state champ Nick Carlson, shooting a course record 62 through 18 holes.  Carlson had 11 birdies and recorded just one bogey.

The incredible thing is that Carlson’s  round could have been better. I watched him on the 15th hole drive the green and then miss a 5 foot eagle putt and settle for birdie.

Hamilton also got help from Nick Scholl with an 88, Adam Reed with an 87, and Anthony Guillozet with an 85.

The Hawkeyes placed second overall out of 19 teams with a team score of 322 falling four strokes short of Grand Rapids Christian.

Hamilton will look to finish the season strong at the conference tournament.
