Hawkeye varsity soccer rolls over Holland Christian

Matt Rouwhorst clears the ball out of Hawkeye Territory.

The Hamilton Hawkeye varsity soccer team beat rival Holland Christian 4-1 in overtime on Monday.

The Hawkeyes played from a goal down after an early Holland Christian goal to score off a header by Adam Immink late in the second half. The Hawkeyes then put 3 more goals in the net in overtime to get the win.

“Our ability to play offense and our ability to stay composed,” were the team’s strenghts said Coach Ted Malefyt.

Forwards Adam Immink and Austin Hornik both had 2 goals to lead the Hawkeyes to the victory.

“I knew we had them after the second goal, but after the third and forth (we) just put it away,” Hawkeye goalkeeper Josh Brigham said.

The Hawkeyes closed out their regular season conference play on Wednesday at Zeeland West with a 2-2 tie.
