The Hawkeyes’ opened their OK Green conference schedule with a solid 42-7 win at Holland in the newly remodeled Holland Municipal Stadium.

Hamilton was led by a pair of seniors – quarterback Nick Kronemeyer and running back Tommy Schreur – who combined for three touchdowns.

Schreur scored on runs of 4 and 5 yards, respectively.  Kronemeyer added a 27 yard TD through the air to Trenton Haverdink.

Schreur said the Hawkeyes playing as one unit is one of their strengths and that showed as they could get things done both on offense and on defense.

“We were good at times and a lot of kids got to play,” Head coach Chris Meyers said, “and that’s always a good thing.”

The Hawkeyes played very tough defense only allowing one touchdown.

The defensive unit was led by the Buresh brothers, as senior Ethan had 11 tackles including three sacks, and sophomore Dylan added seven tackles.

Jared Overbeek picked up a fumble with just over 5 minutes left in the half and rambled 20 yards for another Hawkeye touchdown and the route was on.

The fact that they were able to get such a big lead and was able to hold it was helpful because it allowed many different people to play.

Andrew Huizenga punched in a 1 yard TD run late to close out the scoring for the Hawkeyes.

Schreur had two first quarter touchdowns on runs of Schreur finished with 127 yards on 18 carries.

Kronemeyer finished with 105 yards rushing, and 60 yards passing.

Senior placekicker Brady Zomer was perfect on all six extra points for Hamilton.

Hamilton will hope improve upon their impressive 3-0 record next week when they take on Forest Hills Northern (1-2) at home with a 7pm kick-off.
