Expecting the girls to improve and grow, Coach Deanna Malloch was surprised at how hard the JV girls worked to improve.

“All the (JV golf) girls started off with minimal golf experience and we had a lot of growth and a lot of fun this season,” Coach Deanna Malloch said.

“At first, it was kind of frightening, because I thought that I was going to be the only freshman,” Sydney Eustice said, “and that it was going to be awkward at practices, but when I got there, everyone was so loving. All the varsity girls were very friendly and it was great to get to know them.”

“Golf is a great sport with great coaches that will teach you a lot even if you don’t know much,” Tara genzink said.

“Golf is a lot of fun and a great team building sport,” Makayla Lubbers said.

The JV Girls Golf team consists of Makayla Lubbers, Tara Genzink, Sydney Eustice, Breanna Eding, Linsey Wilkins, and Coach Deanna Malloch. The best scores of the season were achieved by Makayla Lubbers, who shot a 54 at Diamond Springs, and Sydney Eustice, who shot a 53 at Clearbrook.

The JV golf girls started their season in August, with their first match on August 20, and ending their season with their last match on September 29.  The girls played a variety of schools from all over West Michigan.

For majority of the girls this was their first year playing golf. The girls ended their season 5-6 while learning the game of golf and improving themselves.
