Opinion: best point guard in the NBA

The Oklahoma City Thunder's Russell Westbrook goes up for a shot.

I call it Westbrook logic. Russell Westbrook, of the Oklahoma City Thunder, is clearly the best point guard in the NBA. You can’t fight it.

He goes nuts passing, averaging 7.6 assists per game. He may not lead all point guards in assists, but he is still up there in the rankings. He is an excellent passer, and really brings a spark to his team.

You want to talk about scoring? Well, Westbrook is the by far best scorer in the league at his position. He averages 21 points per game. No other PG can even come close to that.

You will hear all the, “11 assists per game, blah blah blah”, from all the Rajon Rondo lovers. I agree he is a great passer, but he just can’t score like Westbrook.

Then you get the Clippers bandwagoners who think Chris Paul is the best of the best at point guard. If you have any sense, you would know that is the farthest from the truth. Chris Paul is good, but not that good. He does well scoring, but still comes up short compared to Russell Westbrook. While he is a good passer, he just doesn’t elevate his team to the level that Westbrook does with the Thunder.

There’s no denying it, Russell Westbrook is “the Messiah” of point guards.
