The Wiz tickets now available

The Wiz cast members practice some of their songs.

The Wiz, a musical spin-off version of the Wizard of Oz, is being performed at Hamilton High School on Nov. 29 and 30 at 7 p.m. and Dec. 1 at 2 p.m. and 7 p.m.

Tickets recently became available in the main office at the high school. Each ticket is $6 for students and $8 for adults.

With tickets on sale, the cast is starting to realize that the show is getting closer – in fact, it is only 2 weeks away.  Pre-show jitters and worries are starting to settle in.

“Yah, I’m nervous,” Jordan Lemon said, “but I’m sure we will do fine and the show will be great.”

Even though the cast and crew will be working extra hard in these next 2 weeks to put on an outstanding performance and leave the audience speechless, it appears miniscule to the work already done on the show.

“Auditions, casting, costumes, set, rehearsal, painting, building, more costumes, so many things have gone into this show that most people would overlook,” show director Jacquie Johr said, “but now that it’s almost show-time, it’s time to have fun, to get jazzy and to perform.”

“It’s time to pull everything and everyone  together,” Haley Bos said, “to put on the best possible show we can.”

In the said to be  hilarious musical, Dorothy is sucked up into a tornado and instantaneously finds herself in the Land of Oz. On her quest to find her way home, she meets many relatable characters, each with their own problem.

“This is a must see show,” Bos said, ” you’ll laugh, you’ll cry, you will enjoy yourself.”

Johr is hoping to sell as many tickets, if not more, than last year when the theater department performed Footloose. Even though the Wiz is a less known show, its sure to be a hit with the audience.
