Varsity golfers end season at regionals

Taylor Johnson hits a ball on the 5th hole at Diamond Springs.

The varsity girls golf team rounded out its season with a 10th place finish at regionals.  Even though the girls did not qualify for state as a team, senior Taylor Johnson qualified for individual state coming up on Saturday, Oct. 20. Johnson qualified with a 9th place overall finish with a score of 100.

They had to endure unpleasant weather conditions, as some golfers’ game was thrown off a bit.
“It was a miserable day for golf,” Coach Kevin Arnold said. “It effected us and every team greatly. You either embrace it or let it effect you.”
Hannah VandeWege and Taylor Johnson both had good days; they both finished under their average, while Heidi Mihm played at her average.
“We finished second at the conference finals which propelled us to a tie for fourth place in the conference. They really finished strong,” Arnold said. “With the team’s finish – it made our year. “(We’re) very excited for Taylor and her pending state trip.”

The girls had a great season and look for success for Taylor Johnson at the state meet.
