After a tough loss Friday night against Wayland, the boys varsity basketball team lost a close game against Grand Rapids Catholic Central Saturday afternoon.
It was a back and forth battle between the two evenly matched teams at the end of the fourth quarter with the game tied 45-45. With little time left Catholic Central took possession and beat the Hawkeyes with a 3-point buzzer beater, to end the game 48-45.
Connor Davis and Grant Wolfram led the team with 9 points each, while Elijah Walker added 8 points for the Hawkeyes.
Colin Tidd and Scott Scholten both had 3 assists.
The hawkeyes had the lead and were ahead 27-24 at half-time. By the bottom the third quarter Catholic Central had made a comeback and tied the game 34-34.
