The varsity soccer team has had a rough year so far.

“We’ve had our share of rough patches,” says Mason Horsting, “but we work hard everyday at practice to improve.”

One of their best games was against Holland.  Although the team lost, the boys played their best for the first half before losing their grip in the second half.

The varsity soccer team is going into its last week before districts.

Unfortunately for the Hawkeyes, they lost one of the senior captains, outside defender Hunter Smith, when he slid into a pole on Oct. 2.  It took 38 stitches to close up his knee and ended his season early.

The first thing that came out of Hunter’s mouth after he busted his knee wide open was “There goes my hunting season.”

Come cheer on the Hawkeyes as they take on Byron Center on the Home field as they play their last game.
