The varsity girls baskteball improved to 9-1 on the season with a 49-42 win over Holland last night.

Despite the win, the girls didn’t feel they played well.  The Hawkeyes trailed Holland by 14 at the half, 33-19.

“We played bad, but pulled through in the end,” said Rachael Tolsma, who finished with four points for the team.

“We were terrible and could do much better,” guard Carlye Voorhorst said. “We didn’t rebound and our defense was lacking.”

Jenna Schra led the team with 20 points.

The Hawkeyes will look to improve their performance later this week against Byron Center.
