Varsity girls take on Unity Christian

The varsity girl’s basketball is preparing for a big game against Unity Christian next week Tuesday. They played them earlier this season and lost in a close game of 42-44.

The team and their fans are holding their breath hoping to come through with a win and ultimately winning the conference. Beating Unity is one of the team’s goals this season.

Coach Dan VanHekken said that they are two games behind Unity Christian, and would “need help from another team to beat them in conference.”

The team is preparing mentally and physically for this game.

“I think we can win. We just need to start out strong and play the whole game that way,” said team captain Kate Kooiker.

Junior Jessica Bosch said, “The last time we got shaken up on defense. Unity was aggressive and physical, and it surprised us.”

Coach VanHekken agreed that they would need to work on defense before the game.

The girls are staying positive and working hard.

“I think we have done really well so far this season, and I think the rest of the season will go great to,” Bosch said. She’s looking forward to the big game on Tuesday.
