Varsity girls win hard fought battle against HC

The Varsity girls basketball game was an all out brawl as they faced area rival Holland Christian. Hamilton was slow to start as Holland Christian scored the first 11 points of the game. Hamilton turned it around to trail by four at the end of the first.  In the second quarter, the Hawkeyes edged their way back to take a one point lead into half time over the Maroons.

The second half of the game slowed down, as less shots were being made. The Hawkeyes kept their lead after the third quarter, staying one point ahead of HC. The girls were able to win the game 38-36.

Hamilton had to keep up with Holland Christian’s Hope Leppink, as she made four 3-pointers and 20 total points.

Hamilton was able to recover against her four shots with two 3-pointers and 20 total points from Ashley Overbeek.

Kate Kookier and Jenna Schra were also able to sink one 3-point basket each. Schra finished with ten points.
