The Hamilton varsity soccer team defeated Wayland 5-1 yesterday. The victory was a one-sided affair.

Hamilton Juniors Elijah Walker and Aaron Smit led the scoring with two goals each. Smit also had two assists.

Most of the action occurred during the first half, where four out of the five goals were scored.

“We played a good first half tonight in which we played with good pace and physical play,” Hamilton Coach Ted Malefyt said.

Sophomore Evan Woodke also scored for the Hawkeyes, while goalie Dayton Pax stopped five of the six shots on goal.

Brady Zomer assisted on both of Smit’s goals.
