Varsity tennis battles Wayland

The girls varsity tennis team have had a good season according to Coach Steve Lubbers.

On Wednesday May 8th, the varsity tennis team battled Wayland in a head to head match on their home turf. Hamilton ended up bringing in 5 wins, only giving Wayland 3 of the eight matches.

For singles, senior Jenna Schra won her matches 6-1, and  6-0. Freshman Renee Selle won her matches 6-7, 6-2, and 10-5.  Sophomore Emily Cook also had won her matches 7-6, and 6-4.

For doubles, Megan Aardema and Whitney Schaffer lost a tough match 6-4, 6-4, with a 3rd set tiebreak at 10-4.

Heidi Mihm and Maya Voorhorst won their matches 7-5, 6-3, and 10-6. Abby Wilson and Katelyn Hoezee lost their match  6-1, and 6-1. Lydia Phillips and Julie Genzink had won their match 6-7, 6-4, and 12-10.

“The girls have done a good job this year,” said coach Steve Lubbers. “They continue to improve throughout the season and we hope to end the season playing our best tennis.”
