Varsity volleyball loses close one to Holland Christian

The Hamilton varsity volleyball team lost to Holland Christian in 4 tough sets last night.

The Hawkeyes dropped the 1st 25-22.  They won a wild second set 30-28. Then Hamilton lost the last 2 sets 26-24 and 25-18.

“I thought the girls played tough and competed well against a strong HC team,” Head Coach Abby Ekkens said.

Destiny Alexander had 31 assists for the Hawkeyes.

Hamilton had 37 kills led by Jordan Pikaart with 16.

Niki DeNeef led the team with 14 digs out of a total 52.

“I am proud of their efforts and hope to get one more chance at Holland Christian in the District Tournament,” Coach Ekkens said.

The team plays next tonight at Zeeland West. The match starts at 6 p.m.
